Residence permit fees: lower for first issue, higher for renewals
The 2013 Finance Act reorganised the fees charged on residence permits. The first-issue fee fell from €200 to €150 and from €385 to €280 depending on the permit, the renewal fee rose from €220 to €250, and the non-refundable part of the regularisation visa fee, paid when applying, fell from €110 to €50. A €180 fee was created for renewal requests made after the permit has expired. The tax paid by employers of foreign workers rose from 50% to 55% of the monthly wage.

Measure impact
The measure concerns foreign nationals applying for a residence permit and their employers. According to the Senate report, the package was designed to keep the revenue of the French Office for Immigration and Integration, which receives these fees, at around €170m.
