Residence permit fees: base rate cut from €250 to €200 and simplified scale
The 2020 Finance Act reduces the number of residence permit fee rates from thirteen to six. The issuance and renewal fee falls from €250 to €200, the reduced rate (notably for students) is set at €50 instead of €30, €60 or €120, the regularisation visa fee falls from €340 to €200 and the stamp duty rises from €19 to €25. From 1 March 2020, travel documents for refugees, stateless persons and subsidiary protection beneficiaries cost €45 or €40, and identity and travel documents for other foreign nationals €15.

Measure impact
Affects foreign nationals applying for or renewing a residence permit: most rates fall, while the stamp duty rises by €6. The Government estimates the net budgetary cost at €24.6m, a reduction of about 12% in the yield of these taxes.
