General tax on polluting activities: aircraft take-off rates raised (€22 and €8) and partial exemption for inert waste

Article 24 of the 2002 Amending Finance Act raises the aircraft take-off component of the TGAP from €10.37 to €22 (group 1 airports) and from €3.81 to €8 (group 2), abolishes group 3, exempts inert waste up to 20% of quantities received and excludes asbestos-cement facilities.

From 1 January 2003 airlines pay a higher tax on take-offs at major airports, while landfill operators no longer pay the tax on inert waste within 20% of tonnage.
