Natural gas tax: reduced rate of €1.6/MWh for dehydrating vegetables and aromatic plants
The 2019 Finance Act rewrites paragraph 8 of Article 266 quinquies of the Customs Code. The domestic consumption tax on natural gas is levied on energy delivered at gross calorific value, rounded to the nearest megawatt-hour. A rate of €1.6 per megawatt-hour applies to gas used to dehydrate vegetables and aromatic plants (excluding potatoes, mushrooms and truffles) by companies whose consumption exceeds 800 Wh per euro of value added.
