Reduced 5.5% VAT rate extended to further equipment for disabled people
Article 21 of the 2002 Finance Act, which originated in an amendment adopted by the Senate and was rewritten by the National Assembly at its second reading, amends the first paragraph of Article 278 quinquies of the General Tax Code. The reduced 5.5% VAT rate now applies to equipment for disabled people listed in chapters 1 and 3 to 7 of title II and titles III and IV of the interministerial health benefits tariff, instead of chapter 1 (excluding moulded inner slippers), chapter 3, chapter 4 (tympanostomy tubes only) and chapters 5 to 8. The words "and other equipment" are also added after the reference to special equipment known as technical aids.
