Versement mobilité (VM, mobility levy)

The transport levy (versement transport), renamed VM, is a local levy on payroll to fund public transport. No major legislative reform since the 2019 Mobility Orientation Act (loi LOM), but new local authorities have introduced the VM since 2022 when their population passed the required threshold

Measure impact

The Nice Côte d'Azur metropolitan area introduced the VM from 2023. Several mobility organising authorities (AOM) have raised their rates (Île-de-France Mobilités increased some zonal rates in 2023).
