Unemployment insurance reform - Shorter benefit duration
From 1 February 2023, the duration of unemployment benefits was reduced by 25% under a counter-cyclical system. This reduction applies when the unemployment rate is below 9%, in accordance with the act of 21 December 2022
Measure originators
A positive amount is revenue or savings for public finances; a negative amount is a cost or lost revenue.
Measure impact
25% reduction in the benefit duration for jobseekers. For example, a person who has contributed for 24 months will receive benefits for only 18 months instead of 24. Counter-cyclical measure: the duration is restored if the unemployment rate exceeds 9%.
